DailyRi 026: What My Storytelling Workshop Taught Me About Legacy

ONE DAY, WE'LL ALL BE A SERIES OF STORIES, NARRATED BY SOMEONE ELSE.

& maybe that sounds morbid to you, maybe it feels like i just minimized your life. like your existence but not to me. this sentence actually gives me hope, it feeds my purpose, it makes me believe there is life after death.

that's what i was reflecting on in my 4.5 hour storytelling workshop today. we were asked to come prepared to this workshop with a story we wanted to build on. i knew my story would be about me & my dad, but i was seriously struggling to pick one. there are so many stories about him worth telling, & it made me realize that this collection of stories is my way of keeping him alive.

i have become obsessed with the idea of leaving people, places & things better than i found them. that sentence drives everything i do: from my day to day interactions, to my professional pursuits. & i've decided that i want the series of stories i leave behind to share that as their common theme. & i wonder how much different this world would be if each of us picked a "title" or mission statement & decided to use that to drive our every move. something tells me we would all live much more fulfilling lives if we decided to live on purpose.

only love,

ri

WHAt’s THIS Dailyri SERIES?

INTRODUCING THE DAILYRi SERIES.

Inspired by Gary Vaynerchuck’s DailyVees, DailyRi is my daily commitment to documenting my #roadtorima, in shorter form riflections, 1) because writing makes me happy, and 2) i’ve become obsessed with walking in my purpose & drafting a story that I can be proud of.

SO I’LL BE HERE EVERY DAY.
